Frequently Asked Questions

Is BORE TEX safe to shoot through?
Yes, while it is preferred you remove the BORE TEX cap before firing; they can be shot through, allowing the bullet to hit down range with minimal to no effect to accuracy and no effect to personal safety.  [Safety First! Always treat firearms as if they are loaed!]

How do BORE TEX caps affect shotgun patterns?
BORE TEX will have minimal to no effect on ammunition with single projectiles like that of a rifle, muzzleloader, or shotgun slug. However, if you shoot through a BORE TEX cap with a shotgun, using bird shot, the pattern will hit downrange but will show greater expansion than if shot without the cap applied.

Won’t tape or balloons accomplish the same thing?
No, while a piece of electrical tape or a balloon will cover the end of a barrel, they can easily fall off or tear and aren’t durable enough to protect your barrel from scratches, dings, or other damage due to impact.  There is also the risk of an adhesive residue left on your firearm.

Where are BORE TEX caps made?
All BORE TEX caps and packaging are manufactured in the United States.

How many caps come per order?
Each tube contains three BORE TEX caps of the same size.
